NetSecrets [e-mail]
2.4 |
 |
|
System Requirements
|
|
1. Operating system
NetSecrets [e-mail] requires Windows 95/98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0 (service pack
3, or later), Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Since the program uses some features of Windows 95
and Windows NT, it will not run on Windows 3.x with Win32s or any version of Windows
NT prior to 4.0.
2. Hardware requirements
To minimize the chance of packet capture loss and to optimize program's overall performance,
a Pentium 166 MHz or faster processor with 32 MB RAM is recommended for 10 Mbit
Ethernet, and a 266 MHz Pentium II with 64 MB RAM is recommended for 100 Mbit
Fast Ethernet environments.
3. Ethernet interface requirements
NetSecrets [e-mail] will work with most Ethernet/Fast Ethernet network cards that support
promiscuous calls.
4. Windows NT, 2000, XP permissions
Windows NT, 2000, XP users need permissions to load and unload device drivers.
If permissions are insufficient, you may see a message that the adapter could not
be opened when attempting to launch the program. Log on to your machine using an
account with Administrator privileges to capture e-mail messages with NetSecrets
[e-mail].
5. Memory
You should install NetSecrets [e-mail] on a workstation or laptop with 32 MB of RAM
or more for 10 Mbit Ethernet, and 64 MB RAM for 100 Mbit
Fast Ethernet environments. The
number of packets that can be kept in the capture buffer is limited by the amount
of available RAM.
6. Incompatible with large fonts option in Windows
If the text in windows captions appears truncated or windows are cut off, you may
have the Large Fonts option enabled in the Display Properties window of the Control
Panel. Return the setting to Small Fonts to correct this problem. Under Windows 95
or NT 4.0, from the Start menu choose Settings > Control Panel > Display and select
the tab to open the Settings view. Change the Font Size setting to Small Fonts (96
dpi). Under Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows XP, this same option is available by clicking
the Advanced button in the Settings view.
